As regular readers will know, I am writing a book on Wrexham AFC that I hope to have published by Xmas. As the countdown to publication begins I have decided to look back at the other Wrexham AFC titles that are available. Many of these books have been a fantastic source of information to me whilst researching the volume created by myself. One title that I did not consult was The Robins’ Story by Anthony Jones.

Bibliographic information

This was the first publication ever dedicated solely to the history of Wrexham AFC. Written by 16-year-old schoolboy Anthony Jones of Farndon, this book is only 47 pages long and was published in 1974. This is quite remarkable when you consider that it was created in a world without the internet. I know that I could not have even dreamt of researching without having the world wide web at my disposal to back up the primary sources of information garnered from old newspapers of the time.

Anthony Jones went on to become a successful television and radio presenter as well as editing the Wrexham AFC programme for the 1974/75 season.

I am thinking of inviting people to purchase the book before publication to have their names printed in the book. Before offering such an incentive for prior purchase, I want to make sure all is set up to guarantee publication for a set date. I would not want to disappoint anyone by missing a deadline…
