Postcard #16 Received

Postcard #16 Received

Last night I received my sixteenth postcard from End to End after recording 1560 miles of my trip along Route 66. I have copied the text in the email below so that my readers can follow the story of my trip. I have also linked this paragraph to the End to End website which I encourage everyone to look at. As I continue to chip away at my virtual journey along Route 66, I also wonder if I can count on your support and encouragement by sponsoring me. My JustGiving page is linked to at the bottom of this page.

Be aware that cutting down a cactus in Arizona can get you prison time!!

Ever wanted to stay in a wigwam? Well, after this stop carry on to the town of Holbrook, and rest your legs in one of these massive wigwam teepees. Don’t worry, though — these abodes are equipped with A/C for a solid night’s rest.

Ahead, the town of Winslow, Arizona, fully embraces their shout out from The Eagles in the 1972 song “Take It Easy” the lyrics “Well, I’m standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona”, helped to revive the Route 66-based town. Much like the man in the song, you too can stand on a corner there, see a flatbed Ford, and take it easy. Standin’ on the Corner was built in 1999, and as attractions go, it is just a corner, so it’s fairly small. A mural depicts multiple windows, with the reflection of a truck in one and two people embracing in another.

I will carry on cycling and see where I end up next. In the meantime you can sponsor me on my trek along Route 66 in aid of Ataxia UK by clicking here.
