Postcard #9 Received

Postcard #9 Received

Last night I received my ninth postcard from End to End after recording 848 miles of my trip from John O’Groats to Land’s End. I have copied the text in the email below so that my readers can follow the story of my trip. I have also linked this paragraph to the End to End website which I encourage everyone to look at. As I continue to chip away at my virtual journey down Britain, I also wonder if I can count on your support and encouragement by sponsoring me. My JustGiving page is linked to at the bottom of this page.

H.O.P.E. = Hold On. Pain Ends!

You only have 26 miles left to reach Land’s End!!

Enjoy your journey through Cornwall, it has so much to offer. It’s mystical landscape has often been the source of legend.

Like Jack the Giant Killer:

The majestic St Michael’s Mount is rumoured to have been built by the Giant Cormoran – who would wade ashore to steal livestock from the local farms of Marazion. A reward was offered in return for killing the giant and a young boy called Jack volunteered for the job. One moonlit night when the giant was sleeping, brave Jack crept along the causeway and dug a deep pit on the side of the mount. When the sun was just starting to rise, Jack blew his horn to wake Cormoran from his slumber, who charged down the mount – but blinded by the rising sun fell into the hole. If you visit the castle and search for the heart shaped stone of the pathway, which is said to be the heart of the slain giant – rumour has it that if you stand on the stone you can still hear the giant’s heartbeat!

Check out Creeg Tol or The Giant’s Footprints and Boscawen-ûn Stone Circle on the last few miles of your journey!

Only 26 miles left!
