About
Intelligent and creative, I am a hard working individual who has overcome many obstacles in life to accomplish my goals and ambitions, though many remain and I believe I have the determination to carry on achieving.
After being diagnosed with Friedreich’s Ataxia at the age of 16 I found the determination to achieve 8 GCSE’s and 3 A-Levels before attending the University of Nottingham where I attained a 2:1 BA (hons) in American Studies. This degree was extremely interesting and included a six month period in the United States of America, where I was a student at the University of Illinois. The degree program focussed on the history, literature and culture of North America. I particularly enjoyed the historical research involved.
As a university graduate I moved in to local media achieving the position of features writer and sub editor at North Wales Newspapers. My duties included writing the daily TV reviews, interviewing celebrities, reviewing hotels and restaurants, recommending family days out at theme parks, correcting the work of other journalists and writing headlines to accompany stories throughout the newspaper.
During my time at the newspaper I was also offered the opportunity to spend six nights on the QE2 as it sailed from Southampton to New York. While on board, I interviewed stars of stage and screen, and also wrote a double page feature on the facilities and entertainment provided on this famous ship.
