Wrexham Football Club 1872-1950

Wrexham Football Club 1872-1950

As regular readers will know, I am writing a book on Wrexham AFC that I hope to have published by Xmas. As the countdown to publication begins I have decided to look back at the other Wrexham AFC titles that are available. Many of these books have been a fantastic source of information to me whilst researching the volume created by myself.

  • Format: Paperback / softback
  • Pages: 128 pages, 200ill.
  • Publisher: The History Press Ltd
  • Publication Date: 01/08/2000
  • ISBN: 9780752418995

This is a fantastic volume that includes black and white, historic photographs from the clubs past. This book is part of the Images of Sport series, which uses old photographs and archived images to show the history of various local sports in Great Britain.

With everyone being sickeningly fixated on an artificial future fuelled by money, such books are crucial for plastic fans to remember that they are following a club with a rich and diverse history.

This book is bursting with information that all Wrexham fans should have in their memory banks. Jones and Davies delve back to the clubs early years that include their formation and years in the Combination League, that lead to the Birmingham & District League era and ultimately the beginnings of their Football League years. The war time period is also focused on.

Each chapter includes detailed paragraphs under old team photographs, newspaper cuttings and focuses on individual players. The paragraphs are easy-to-read and this book – indeed any book that will give fans more of an idea about the club they are being pulled towards by Hollywood glamour – should be requisite reading for anyone entering the Racecourse.

I am hoping that my book –  I won’t reveal the title just yet – will be published in time for Xmas. This is a crucial period as I try to find out how to get it published. I have a few ions in the fire, so fingers crossed and watch out for a big announcement soon.

Introducing my Buy Me a Coffee page. This is an online space for people such as myself and, indeed, anyone with an audience – Youtubers, musicians, podcasters, writers, programmers, nonprofits, cosplayers, you name it…

This is an excellent idea to give creators an extra source of income, without asking for an outlandish financial commitment during these tough economic times.

Any donation would be greatly appreciated and used to positive effect, even if I don’t drink coffee in everyday life. Virtually, I can’t get enough of the stuff, so what are you waiting for?
