According to Wikipedia, Tanka (短歌, “short poem”?) is a genre of classical Japanese poetry and one of the major genres of Japanese literature. Below you can read the 35th of my 2017 poems.
The aim is to write as many of these poems as possible to build a comprehensive picture of life with a disability in 21st century Britain.
One man went to mow
He went to mow at Chester
One man and his dog
They went to mow at Chester

Wrexham 3 Guiseley 1 – BBC Match Report
This Tanka is based on a popular terrace chant from the 80’s and 90’s, possibly before. I have adapted it and included it in this collection to celebrate the fact that Wrexham won again and Chester lost so we are now above them in the League table. Happy days.
